!!!THE STORY OF GETTING PLACED!!! Part-2
Continued from !!!THE STORY OF GETTING PLACED!!! Part-1
It was 20.07.2009, the first day in final year. Maid's voice was still ringing loud and clear and I had decided to make it happen in this semester itself. With not many companies lined up to come for recruitment, the chances were shallow but I wanted to prove a point.
Not many days passed before the first company visited the campus (for our branch, others have had their first chance even earlier). It was Tata Consultancy Engineering. Date: 29.07.2009.
I appeared for the first ever Pre-Placement Talk. The company profile seemed very sound but did not interest me too much. Consequently, I decided not to go for it. Besides the company profile there was another problem. I was still to get a certificate of the summer training that i had taken at Kota Thermal Power Plant. Next day was the due date of obtaining the certificate. Even if I would have been interested I wont have been able to make into this company.
I could not (or rather I should say I did not) clear the written and moved off to Kota to have the certificate of completion of summer training. They selected 2 from our class and total of 3 students from the college.
The score has moved from 0 to 2 within 10 days of the semester. So the expectations of students soared sky high. But soon the dreams were struck by reality. Companies lined up started to refuge or post-pone their visits. Nearly entire August went in no hope. Just then like a silver tint from the clouds of doubt came the conformation of the company named Energy Infratech. They had the reputation of selecting each and every one appearing for their test, for the interview. So, people around became complacent and started to enquire about their joining places and tentative dates (As if considering that all of those appearing would be selected for the job). Oops! I forgot to mention the date that was confirmed. It was 21.08.2009.
As the date approached nearer the restlessness started to creep in. Though all fears were base less but the unknown fear of unexpected started to haunt me. On 19.08.2009 we got the news that the scheduled date of the visit of company was rescheduled on 20.08.2009. One day before the date that was scheduled earlier.
The ppt started and not many people were found attracted to the work profile of the company. The ppt had a lasting effect on my mind and I thought it to be the company that I could and possibly wanted to crack. With the assurance in the back of my mind that they had come to recruit people in good number, I started to see myself as an employee in the company.
I appeared for the written test with mind fully made up to join the company. People around cheated to their potential and I could not. Not even once during the test a thought came to my mind about using unfair means, as I was confident enough that I would go through for the second round (i.e. for the interview). After the test I came back to the hostel, had my lunch with ultimate calmness of mind and got ready to appear for the interview. I changed into the formal outfit (white shirt, black trouser and black shoes) and started to wait for the call from any one of the BC's calling me for the interview. But it did not come. I decided to set out towards the PTP Department rather than to wait for the call in the room. On my way, with the fear of unexpected flocking my mind to its maximum, fingers trembling and a pounding heart I dialed the number of one of our BC's. I COULD NOT CLEAR THE WRITTEN TEST.
The answer (result) had nearly fainting effect on me. I came back to my room. With only one company lined up to visit next, the world seemed to have ended for me. The after affects were too much for me to handle. The restlessness resulted in insomnia, which resulted in complete physical break down to accompany the mental trauma I had put my self in.
