The (un)fortunate lockdown
As
we mark the completion of 6 months of biggest overall slump of our lifetimes, I
truly feel, it was not at all wastage of time, for personal developments. Not
only we got time to relive our great school days kind of life, we also had
ample time to brush up our long left back desires and hobbies. One such desire
that has grown highly in recent times has been the need to exercise and reduce
some of the extra kilos.
During
the initial days of the long break, I slept to fill in the void of rest during
the stressful day-to-day working routines. But, this desire subsided even
before the end of first lockdown announced by our PM Sir. In addition, there
was a never-ending rise in the need to lose weight. One day when the chair
creaked as I rested on it, the mental alarms went blazing and it was evidently
high time to begin some or the other kind of exercise.
Over
the laughs and sometimes cheers of the family, this journey finally began when
one of our neighbors called me while on his way to play badminton in the
society compound. To be honest, I played owe fully bad, failing to site the
shuttle on numerous occasions and ending up losing every single game during our
brief time of play. The only positive take away was that I finally sweated that
day. This carried on for another 15 days, with no signs of improvement in
stamina or game play. My mind wanted to withdraw going to court slightly.
However, I hung in somehow, mostly due to persuasion of my friends.
Eventually
all that sweat, humiliation (of losing even to kids of class 8) and
determination to move out of the comfort zone day after day, had its effect.
For the time being, I’ve already lost around 7kg of weight owing to the
(un)fortunate lockdown.
The following is a recent photograph showing my achievement
